Maintenance Engineer - Extrusion Machinery

About the role

A manufacturer is looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to keep its manufacturing equipment running reliably, safely and efficiently. The role centres on extrusion processes and machinery, preventive and corrective maintenance, audit preparation and maintenance reporting. At least 3 years of experience is required.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance, focusing on extruders and related auxiliary machinery.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults to minimise downtime.
• Develop, implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, breakdown reports and spare-parts documentation.
• Prepare reports on downtime, root cause, corrective actions and KPIs.
• Support internal and external audits with maintenance documents and compliance evidence.
• Ensure machinery meets safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate with production, quality and warehouse teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Monitor critical spare parts, raise purchase requests and support inventory control.
• Identify improvements for equipment, energy savings and reliability.
• Train operators and junior technicians on basic equipment care and first-level maintenance.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or a related engineering field.
• Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with extruders and extrusion lines is highly preferred.
• Preferred: experience in plastic, cable, pipe, packaging or similar extrusion-based manufacturing.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with maintenance audits, documentation, reports and compliance.
• Knowledge of motors, drives, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, electrical diagrams and layouts.
• Good reporting, problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office; CMMS experience is an advantage.
• Preferred: knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001.
