Manager - Central Electrical (Section Head - Electrical)

About the role

A leading integrated steel manufacturer in the UAE is looking for a Central Electrical Manager (Section Head - Electrical) to lead the electrical maintenance team supporting its plants. The role ensures safe, reliable electrical services through preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, major repairs and rapid troubleshooting during breakdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Maximise equipment availability against annual objectives by controlling unscheduled delays within budget
• Assess business risks of electrical equipment and systems and recommend technical improvements to senior management
• Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance, prioritise maintenance requests into daily, weekly, monthly and yearly plans, and review planned versus executed work during shutdowns
• Ensure work orders are accurately recorded in the maintenance system to track performance trends
• Lead the team on non-routine and major faults, conduct root cause analysis and implement countermeasures
• Prepare management reports on stoppages, faults and maintenance performance, and review outstanding jobs and trends weekly
• Prepare, justify and control annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets, manage spare parts and run periodic audits
• Lead, train and appraise maintenance technicians, support UAE national development through individual development plans, maintain an efficient organisation structure and support recruitment
• Support equipment upgrades, revamps, expansions and feasibility studies, and lead maintenance readiness for facility start-ups (staffing, spares, training, service agreements and commissioning)
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure EHS compliance across team members and contractors

Required profile

• BSc in Electrical or Electronic Engineering; technical Master's, MBA or technical certifications preferred
• 10-15 years' proven experience in MV & LV electrical systems and automation systems maintenance, including at least 5 years as an electrical section head or team leader
• Experience in steel plants (direct reduction, steelmaking or rolling mills) preferred
• Fluent English; Arabic preferred
