Materials Inspector – Construction Projects

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Materials Inspector to join its freight project team in Ruwais. The role involves ensuring that all construction materials and works meet the required specifications, standards, and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect site conditions before construction starts to confirm compatibility with approved designs.
• Verify delivered materials against approved samples, specifications, and equipment lists, reporting any non‑conformances.
• Ensure proper storage and protection of materials on‑site to maintain quality.
• Inspect both temporary and permanent works for compliance with contract documents, shop drawings, and project specifications.
• Maintain daily inspection logs, test reports, and site records in line with contract administration procedures.
• Monitor site safety practices and report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Issue Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Site Observation Reports (SORs) and follow up on corrective actions.
• Assist with punch‑list preparation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Review Contractors’ Requests for Information (RFIs) and evaluate material variance or substitution requests.

Required profile

• Experience in construction material inspection and quality control.
• Ability to read and interpret working drawings and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with safety procedures on construction sites.
