Mechanical Engineer - Thermal Plant & Process Design

About the role

This Mechanical Engineer role in Dubai covers mechanical verification and drawings for a compact, factory-built infrastructure system. The engineer turns process design into a buildable plant by checking thermal and hydraulic performance, specifying equipment and supporting fabrication and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Verify heat and mass balance, exchanger duties, approach temperatures, areas and design margins.
• Size piping, pumps, valves, supports and skids, and produce hydraulic and pressure-drop calculations.
• Issue general-arrangement drawings, layouts, P&IDs, mark-ups, isometrics and fabrication details for plant and technical hall.
• Assess offered equipment, including used and ex-stock units, for condition, remaining life and fitness for purpose.
• Deliver ready-to-issue calculations, GAs, layouts, P&IDs, isometrics, supports, weld details, fabrication drawings, BOMs and line lists.

Required profile

• 5+ years in energy, industrial or packaged-plant engineering, including a project physically built and commissioned.
• Experience with thermal plants, exchangers, pumped circuits and cooling systems.
• Strong judgement on heat balance, hydraulics, NPSH and materials selection.

Required skills

• Fluency in AutoCAD and a 3D package, able to issue drawings personally and work directly with fabricators.
• Tools such as Inventor, SolidWorks or Fusion, Excel, HTRI, AFT Fathom, Pipe-Flo or first-principles sizing.
