About the role

The Medical Practitioner in General Medicine works under the supervision of a Consultant or Specialist Physician to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care. This role involves managing admissions, overseeing investigations, and contributing to treatment plans while supporting junior staff and participating in clinical education.

Key responsibilities

• Review investigation results and adjust treatment plans with consultant approval.
• Assist senior physicians in diagnosis and patient management.
• Participate in daily ward rounds and reassess in‑patients and out‑patients as directed.
• Organise diagnostic tests, record results, and liaise with other specialties.
• Provide support and teaching to interns and medical students.
• Manage referrals from emergency, primary care, and other hospitals.
• Contribute to clinical audits, quality‑improvement activities, and research projects.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis.

Required profile

• Qualified medical practitioner registered to practice.
• Ability to work under supervision of a Consultant or Specialist physician.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to adhere to hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and best‑practice standards.
• Team‑oriented attitude and willingness to support junior staff.
