ML Engineering Expert

About the role

You will design, build, and operate AI‑native enterprise applications that combine cloud‑native software engineering with production‑grade machine learning and agentic AI capabilities. The role involves translating ambiguous business requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable solutions and owning technical delivery from discovery through deployment and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate production‑grade, cloud‑native applications integrating large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) and agent‑based workflows.
• Prototype, iterate and productionize solutions in customer environments, adapting reference architectures to real‑world constraints.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery, including deployment, observability and production operations, while managing risks and technical escalations.
• Act as the primary technical interface to customers and internal stakeholders, communicating solution approaches and trade‑offs.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience in software and application engineering for cloud‑native, enterprise and SaaS environments.
• Proven ability to design and deliver AI‑native applications using large language models, RAG architectures and agentic systems.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking and design‑thinking skills, with experience mentoring teams.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with cross‑functional teams and customers.

Required skills

• Python and common AI/ML libraries.
• Cloud‑native architecture principles (scalability, security, reliability).
• Vector databases and large language model integration.
• MLOps and data pipeline experience.
• Familiarity with SAP AI technologies such as SAP AI Core, Vectorization, Joule Studio, RPT‑1 and Business Data Cloud (advantage).
