NICU Registered Nurse

About the role

NMC Healthcare is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its NICU in Sharjah. The nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to neonates and paediatric patients, works within the scope of practice and puts the health, wellbeing and safety of patients first.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, including head-to-toe assessments, pain assessment and re-assessment according to policy
• Create and evaluate care plans with the interprofessional team, and document accurately in the patient record
• Monitor vital signs, report abnormalities immediately to medical staff, and escalate concerns
• Administer medications, IV fluids and blood products, and provide wound care
• Perform basic life support, pediatric advanced life support and neonatal resuscitation, and assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures
• Care for patients receiving chemotherapy, phototherapy and pre- and post-operative care
• Maintain equipment and take part in ongoing certification and professional development

Required profile

• Valid license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority, with all required qualifications and experience
• Owns and manages their own professional re-licensure
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support provider card
• Willingness to work across departments and on call when necessary
• Excellent observation skills, critical thinking and quick decision-making

Required skills

• Administration of cytotoxic drugs and care of chemotherapy patients
• Insertion and handling of port-a-cath needles and peripheral IV lines
• Proficiency in emergency procedures, equipment and protocols of the unit
• Competence in all aspects of nursing care as defined by the unit's Elsevier competencies
