Operations Superintendent

About the role

The Operations Superintendent leads the ship agency team, ensuring efficient delivery of services to vessels and clients at the port. This senior role coordinates operations, client relations, and compliance to uphold the company's reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and develop a team of ship agency executives and administrative staff, including recruitment, training and performance evaluation.
• Develop and enforce SOPs, monitor and optimise operational processes, and coordinate with finance, sales and customer service.
• Act as primary contact for key clients, manage expectations, and resolve inquiries in line with SLAs.
• Liaise with port authorities, terminal operators and customs to coordinate vessel movements and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee budgeting, cost control, invoice approval and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring safety, security and environmental standards are met.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in maritime studies, logistics, business administration or related field.
• Several years of progressive experience in ship agency operations with proven leadership abilities.
• Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• In‑depth knowledge of maritime practices, port operations, shipping regulations and international trade.

• Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills.
