Physical Education Teacher

About the role

GEMS Cambridge International School, Abu Dhabi is looking for a Physical Education Teacher to join its team from January 2027. The teacher will teach PE according to the National Curriculum Framework, under the guidance of the competent education authority, and will contribute to extracurricular sports provision. The role suits someone passionate about health, fitness and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the PE curriculum with accurate, up-to-date knowledge of sports, fitness and health education
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons for students of varying abilities, and assess, record and report on their progress
• Ensure a safe, inclusive environment and maintain high standards of discipline, behaviour and safeguarding
• Organise and lead extracurricular sports, teams, fixtures and competitions, and take part in inter-school events and sports days
• Contribute to the school development plan and work with colleagues to improve the PE curriculum and whole-school wellbeing initiatives
• Communicate with colleagues, parents and stakeholders, and take part in CPD

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field, with a recognised teaching qualification or licence
• Minimum of two years' teaching experience in a relevant subject or age group
• Experience teaching PE across the whole school
• Ability to coach and lead a variety of sports and physical activities
• Level 2 swimming certification is desirable

• Strong subject knowledge in PE, sports and health education
• Competence in using ICT to support teaching, learning and assessment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
