Plant & Machinery Manager

About the role

BCD Global is looking for an experienced, operationally focused Plant & Machinery Manager / Engineer to oversee the deployment, maintenance and performance of construction equipment across its project sites in Dubai. The role covers heavy machinery, tower cranes, hoists and fleet operations, working with site teams, technicians, equipment suppliers and inspection bodies to coordinate equipment availability, run preventive maintenance programmes, keep certifications valid and minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage the site allocation, erection, climbing and dismantling of tower cranes, passenger hoists and heavy machinery.
• Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for the heavy fleet (excavators, loaders, generators, compressors, heavy trucks and cranes).
• Coordinate mandatory third-party safety inspections and certifications (e.g. TUV, ENAS-accredited bodies) for lifting gear and heavy plant before site deployment.
• Supervise mechanical technicians, heavy equipment operators and crane operators to ensure safe operating procedures.
• Source and manage heavy equipment rental contracts, evaluate supplier terms and resolve vendor disputes or rental overcharge claims.
• Manage spare parts inventory, issue purchase requisitions and negotiate with local machinery dealers.
• Investigate breakdowns and mechanical failures, carry out root-cause analysis and take corrective action to reduce downtime.
• Monitor fuel consumption, running hours and logbooks, and prepare monthly operational cost and utilisation reports for management.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience.
• Construction site experience.
