PLC Commissioning Engineer – Airport Baggage Systems

About the role

Join a leading provider of high‑performance airport logistics solutions as a PLC Commissioning Engineer in Dubai. You will be responsible for developing, testing, and commissioning PLC software that drives baggage and cargo handling systems, ensuring they meet functional performance and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and commission PLC software in line with BHS/CHS specifications, eliminating redundancies and meeting project requirements.
• Analyse mechanical layouts, electrical and control drawings to verify feasibility and timely delivery.
• Prepare functional design specifications, operator manuals, training manuals, and commissioning documentation such as method statements and test protocols.
• Collaborate with design, IT, and simulation teams on drive selection, fieldbus topology, and safety considerations.
• Lead testing activities, provide system training, resolve snags, and support on‑site optimisation of existing BHS/CHS projects.
• Participate in product training, stay updated on new developments, and feed insights back to engineering and R&D.
• Review customer specifications to ensure solutions fully meet operational needs.
• Adhere to occupational health, safety, security, environment and quality processes as defined in project HSSE and Quality Plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electro‑Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of automation experience, including object‑oriented software programming and commissioning.
• Proven experience with Siemens PLC platforms (Simatic Manager S7, TIA Portal).
• Strong knowledge of BHS/CHS processes, safety systems, and third‑party interfaces such as ATR, X‑ray, sorters and lifts.
