Principal Piping Engineer

About the role

The Principal Piping Engineer will lead piping design activities for complex projects, interpret internal and external business challenges, and recommend best‑practice solutions. Working with minimal supervision, the role requires solving advanced piping problems and providing technical guidance across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED and detailed design analysis in line with project scope, design basis, codes, standards and McDermott procedures.
• Prepare detailed design calculations, reports and procedures while adhering to schedule and budget.
• Manage personal workload, forecast resource needs and ensure timely delivery of deliverables.
• Lead medium to large engineering and design teams as Lead Engineer, directing discipline execution, schedule, budget and quality.
• Act as the discipline representative in project meetings with clients, certifying authorities and third‑party auditors.
• Maintain strict compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Extensive expertise in piping engineering and proven experience leading functional teams or projects.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and exercise sound judgment on complex issues.
• Strong analytical skills and capability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations within engineering environments.
