Principal Subsea Pipeline Engineer

About the role

McDermott International is hiring a Principal Subsea Pipeline Engineer in Dubai. The role interprets internal and external business issues in pipeline engineering and recommends best practices, solves complex pipeline problems independently with minimal guidance, and may lead functional teams or projects. It calls for specialist depth and broad knowledge of the pipeline engineering discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret business challenges and recommend best practices, and become familiar with project scope, specifications, schedule and inter-discipline requirements.
• Interface with all disciplines to develop clash-free designs, and coordinate with Planning, Fabrication, Marine and Project Management.
• Prepare estimates for bids, including technical query reviews, execution statements and work-hour estimates.
• Review and approve design basis, philosophies, technical specifications, design reports, procedures, material and fabrication specifications, and design verification (single-discipline and inter-discipline checks).
• Assist in procurement of discipline equipment, materials and services, and prepare and review vendor and subcontractor submittals.
• Provide technical direction on pipeline designs such as wall thickness, on-bottom stability, cathodic protection, free-span, expansion and stress analyses, route selection, crossing supports, clamp and subsea structures, and seismic analyses.
• Act as the discipline point of contact with customers, document substantive communications, and support responses to customer and agency reviews.
• Maintain cost control, capture lessons learned, and guide less experienced engineers and supervise assigned engineers.
• Contribute to Global Procedures, software and standards, and develop communication and presentation skills.
