Procurement Engineer – Switchgear

About the role

Our client, a well‑established UAE‑based electrical trading, distribution and manufacturing company, is looking for an experienced Procurement Engineer specialized in LV switchgear. The role involves managing the end‑to‑end procurement of electrical and switchgear materials required for both manufacturing and project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Source, evaluate and qualify suppliers, manufacturers and authorized distributors locally and internationally.
• Obtain and compare quotations based on price, quality, lead time, technical compliance and payment terms.
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to achieve cost‑effective solutions.
• Maintain strong relationships with key electrical and switchgear suppliers.
• Review technical specifications, BOMs and material requirements from engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Ensure procured items meet project specifications, standards and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with engineering, production, sales and warehouse teams to guarantee timely material availability.
• Monitor purchase orders, supplier confirmations, lead times and deliveries.
• Identify alternative suppliers or equivalent products to improve cost and availability.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years (60 months) of procurement experience in LV switchgear and electrical panel materials.
• Strong knowledge of ACB, MCCB, MCB, RCCB, contactors, overload relays, motor starters, copper busbars, switchgear components and related accessories.
• Familiarity with major international electrical brands and their authorized distributors in the UAE market.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, BOMs and engineering drawings.
• Excellent negotiation and commercial acumen.
