Project Director - Design Services

About the role

Hyatt's Regional Office - EAME is looking for a Project Director of Design Services based in Dubai. You will guide the design and delivery of full-service hotel projects across new builds, conversions and renovations, reporting to the Regional Vice President - Design Services. You will lead multidisciplinary teams from early planning and design through construction, commissioning and post-opening review, working with owners, designers, consultants and Hyatt's operational and technical specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept to opening, establish project plans, coordinate deliverables and oversee Technical Services Agreement accounting within budget.
• Shape early planning with the Development Group, prepare Preliminary Area Programs and guide preliminary architectural reviews.
• Advise owners and project teams on design requirements, support Property Improvement Plans and review drawings, specifications, furnishings and fixtures against brand standards.
• Run project kick-offs and coordinate with Project Management, Building Systems Design, Operational Planning, Culinary and external specialists.
• Research and pre-qualify hospitality architecture and interior design firms, maintain a partner database and oversee outsourced design reviews.
• Coordinate equipment specification books and FFE budgets, review mock-up rooms and document feedback.
• Maintain monthly construction reports, attend key construction meetings, assess on-site work against approved drawings and escalate deviations.
• Help implement prototype programmes, innovation and departmental initiatives, and complete post-opening follow-up reports.

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited institution.
• At least 10 years of experience in architectural or interior design, with strong project management skills.
• Experience leading internal multidisciplinary teams in hospitality development and managing external consultants.
• Excellent written and spoken English, strong presentation skills; additional languages are an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in design and project management software, including Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.
• Ability to guide complex projects, balance stakeholder priorities and lead departmental initiatives.
