Quality Assurance Engineer (Manual & Automation)

About the role

Sumara Technology is looking for a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure the reliability and robustness of its core payment products. The QA Engineer joins a focused squad responsible for a critical payment product, making sure every deposit and withdrawal is processed with precision and security. The role is remote, based in the UAE, and the client is in the UK working UK hours, so some alignment in working hours is preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases for payment processing systems.
• Perform rigorous manual testing to find issues in complex business logic and edge cases.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for functional and regression testing.
• Validate backend services and APIs to ensure accurate transaction processing.
• Identify, record and track bugs, working closely with developers to verify fixes.
• Promote QA best practices, including shifting testing left and maintaining high code quality.
• Take part in release planning and give sign-off on product releases.
• Collaborate in agile development cycles with product managers and developers.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance.
• A "break-the-system" mindset with a keen eye for detail, especially regarding numerical accuracy and financial data.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in manual and automated testing; hands-on experience with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or similar.
• Experience testing RESTful APIs with Postman or programmatic clients.
• Basic knowledge of Java and Spring Boot to work with the backend team.
• Solid understanding of SQL databases for verifying data integrity.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines and agile development.
