Regional Technical Manager

About the role

Smit Lamnalco is seeking a Regional Technical Manager to lead the maintenance, performance and optimisation of its vessel fleet across the Middle East. You will ensure assets are managed safely, cost‑effectively and in full compliance with international regulations and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and control multi‑annual vessel budgets covering maintenance, repairs, dry‑docking, overhauls, insurance and fuel/lubricant costs.
• Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance, dry‑dockings, modifications and technical projects within budget and company standards.
• Apply project‑management techniques, produce high‑quality reports and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain vessels in safe, fit‑for‑purpose condition to maximise utilisation and reliability.
• Promote SHEQ standards, review incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance to Contract and Operations Managers.
• Conduct regular vessel inspections and ensure accurate technical documentation.
• Engage with clients and charter representatives to sustain relationships and identify business development opportunities.
• Support tender processes with technical input for new business acquisition.
• Lead, coach and develop the regional technical team.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing vessel maintenance budgets and technical projects.
• Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and SHEQ standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams.
• Excellent communication skills for client and internal stakeholder interaction.
