Research Scientist – Cybersecurity Governance

About the role

The Center for Cyber Security at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a Research Scientist for a one‑year fixed‑term appointment to lead cutting‑edge research in cybersecurity governance, law, policy, human factors, or socio‑behavioral dimensions of security.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct world‑class research in systems security and privacy and publish in top‑tier conferences and journals.
• Collaborate with government entities, industry partners, and NYU researchers in the United States to deliver groundbreaking results.
• Mentor PhD, master and bachelor students, enhancing their research capabilities.
• Contribute technically and administratively to workshops, conferences, and competitions organized by the center.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Public Policy, Law, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Sociology, Business, or a related interdisciplinary field.
• At least six years of relevant research experience (excluding PhD years) with a strong publication record.
• Excellent qualitative and/or quantitative research skills, including policy analysis, empirical user studies, survey methodology, or behavioral experiments.
• Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and in a team.
