Resources and Inventory Officer

About the role

Fortes Education is hiring a Resources and Inventory Officer in Dubai. The role develops the company's inventory management strategy to control costs, generate savings, rationalise stock and maximise working capital, and keeps the flow of consumable resources going smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the inventory management strategy and maintain, manage and account for inventory, including stock locations, receipts, returns, re-orders and issues, following strict accounting and auditing procedures.
• Control perpetual inventory counts and accuracy checks, approve payment invoices and investigate discrepancies and shortages.
• Perform regular cycle counts and yearly physical inventory counts, and reconcile stock monthly and report to management.
• Procure materials economically, negotiate prices within the approved budget, check samples and quality, and keep vendor records.
• Maintain daily shipment and invoice records, forecast stock needs for teachers and students, and follow up late deliveries and sub-contract returns.
• Track inventory through the ERP inventory module, keep the inventory floor organised and labelled, and ensure shop, shelves and counters stay clean and safe.
• Create written procedures for inventory control, run safety inspections of utility equipment, and provide routine reports on usage, cost and scrap.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2 years' relevant work experience; ideally professional qualifications or experience in inventory control and purchasing, including MRP and ERP.
• Excellent written and verbal English, ability to work independently and in a team, and good relationships with colleagues and vendors.
