Rolling Stock Senior Technician

About the role

Keolis is looking for a Rolling Stock Senior Technician in Dubai to provide specialist level 4 and 5 engineering and maintenance services for the Rolling Stock and On Track Plants of the Dubai Metro. The post is a permanent contract and involves assisting the Rolling Stock Team Leader with preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs and modifications.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine vehicle inspections, change consumables, perform repairs and technical cleaning, and manage the safe system of works to meet tight schedules.
• Test electromechanical assemblies, replace and install electrical and electronic parts, and use electronics tools, hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates and microscopes.
• Operate metalworking machines, repair, rework and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies, and verify dimensions and clearances.
• Perform time-sensitive fault diagnostics and component replacement on rolling stock, and carry out annual wheel re-profiling with an under-floor wheel lathe.
• Overhaul trains at defined intervals and assist in implementing complex systems or new projects.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in a computerized maintenance management system and follow safe access and emergency procedures.
• Comply with the Keolis MHI management system, HSE requirements, training obligations and confidentiality obligations, and report accidents and incidents.

Required profile

• Vocational trade certificate or diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
• Good eyesight and normal colour vision.
• Valid UAE driving licence with good driving skills and experience preferred.
• Experience maintaining, repairing and overhauling car bodies, bogies, suspension, couplers, draft gears, propulsion, brakes, batteries, auxiliary power, electrical equipment, doors, ventilation and air conditioning, and train control and monitoring systems is essential.
• Prior experience in shunting and driving engineering vehicles and/or locomotives is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Ability to use and calibrate electrical, electronic and mechanical test equipment and PCs.
• Writing simple technical reports, method statements and drawings.
• Strong mechanical understanding of rolling stock, good communication and organisational skills.
