Rooms Controller

About the role

Minor Hotels is looking for a Rooms Controller for its Dukes The Palm Dubai Hotel, part of the Colbert Collection. The role works closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, Reservations, Revenue, Engineering and other departments to optimise room inventory, anticipate guest preferences and communicate operational needs. The job location is Dukes.

Key responsibilities

• Review upcoming arrivals, departures, occupancy and room inventory to support daily planning.
• Pre-assign rooms based on guest preferences, availability, operational needs and special requests.
• Update guest profiles and reservations with accurate information, preferences, arrival times and special requests.
• Prepare for group arrivals by reviewing group requirements, rooming lists, billing instructions and special arrangements.
• Coordinate room readiness with Housekeeping and Engineering, including out-of-order and out-of-service rooms.
• Monitor room availability and balance room categories to maximise occupancy while protecting the guest experience.
• Identify potential inventory challenges or overbooking situations and escalate them to the relevant leaders.
• Ensure room assignments, payment instructions, routing details and reservation notes are accurate before arrival.
• Follow up on traces, alerts and outstanding guest requests with the relevant departments.
• Support Front Office with room moves, late check-outs, early arrivals and changes to existing reservations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a large hotel with at least 500 keys in a luxury property.
• Proven work experience as a Rooms Controller.
• Opera experience.
• Pre-opening experience is an advantage.
