Secondary Science Teacher (August 2027)

About the role

The Arbor School Dubai is seeking an experienced Secondary Science Teacher for its Secondary School, starting in August 2027. The teacher will help realise the school's ecological and sustainability vision, working closely with the Head of Department to develop the curriculum, deliver engaging lessons and support students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. The role covers Combined and Separate Sciences at KS3 and KS4, and specialist science at A Level where required.

Key responsibilities

• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all students in line with the school's Safeguarding Framework, policies and Code of Conduct.
• Support the development and review of the Science curriculum and schemes of work across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate lessons based on the National Curriculum, with emphasis on pace, higher-order questioning, scientific enquiry and critical thinking.
• Teach Science across KS3 and KS4, including Combined and Separate Sciences, and specialist science at KS5 where required.
• Plan and deliver safe, purposeful practical investigations, including required practicals, working with Science Technicians and following laboratory health and safety procedures.
• Use assessment strategies and student progress data to inform teaching and support strong academic outcomes.
• Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment in classrooms and laboratories.
• Work with colleagues, pastoral and inclusion teams, and develop enrichment opportunities that include ecological awareness, sustainability and cross-curricular learning.
• Take part in professional development and share the school's vision, mission and values.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Science or a related subject, with a PGCE and QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Relevant teaching experience, ideally in a British curriculum school; experience teaching KS3 and KS4 science is required.
• Ability to teach a specialist science subject at A Level; teaching more than one science subject at A Level is an advantage.
• Experience planning and delivering practical science lessons, with knowledge of laboratory health and safety.
• Fluent or native-level English.
