Senior Advisor - HSSE Training

About the role

Petrofac, an international service provider to the energy industry, is recruiting a Senior Advisor for HSSE Training. The role develops and delivers HSSE training for projects and offices, covering inductions, awareness, hazard-specific topics and competency assessments, and supports subcontractor training.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the project training management plan, including a monthly rolling training plan with the HSSE Manager
• Maintain the HSSE training database and prepare weekly and monthly training statistics and reports
• Issue safety flashes, alerts, bulletins, hand-outs and other awareness material, and develop training modules from corporate modules and project procedures
• Review training courses and programs for relevance and effectiveness, and conduct safety inductions for employees, contractors and visitors
• Deliver theoretical and practical sessions, including Safe Systems of Work (PTW, risk assessments), hazard-specific topics (H2S, confined space, working at height, fire safety) and major accidental hazards
• Assist in HSSE campaigns (safe driving, heat stress) and audit subcontractor HSSE training, supporting subcontractor trainers and modifying programmes to suit their workforce
• Implement the HSSE competency assessment process and carry out site visits to support the project HSSE training team
• Translate HSSE training material into local languages where required and carry out other HSSE-related tasks as advised by the supervisor

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (4 years) or diploma (3 years)
• NEBOSH certification or equivalent
• Train-the-trainer certificate (third party)
• Lead or internal auditor (ISO 45001/ISO 14001) preferred
• 8 years of diversified HSSE experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong background in instructing courses such as inductions, awareness, major accidental hazards and environmental management
• Previous client approval is an added advantage

Required skills

• Ability to develop and deliver HSSE training, including needs analysis, material preparation and assessment tools
• Experience teaching PTW, risk assessments, MAHs and hazard-specific topics
• Competence with visual aids, presentations and practical demonstrations
• Fluent spoken and written English, with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of client procedures, manuals, contractor onboarding HSE requirements and local regulations
