Senior AI Engineer - On-Site Abu Dhabi

About the role

AppliedAI is an AI technology company based in Abu Dhabi, focused on regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, government and financial services. Its Opus platform is described as the world's first Knowledge Work AI platform, using a human-in-the-loop model where AI handles repetitive, structured tasks while human experts oversee them. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will help design, evolve and deliver the end-to-end AI infrastructure of Opus, covering model serving, orchestration, prompt alignment, workflow intelligence and agent systems, and guide a multidisciplinary UAE-based team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve high-performance AI serving and orchestration pipelines, and refactor existing systems for clarity, modularity and maintainability.
• Improve runtime latency, reliability and quality metrics across live AI features.
• Build observability and error-tracking layers to detect regressions early.
• Guide prompt and alignment strategies so model behaviour stays consistent across features.
• Work with product teams to ensure AI responses meet quality, stability and response-time targets.
• Lead design reviews, incident analysis and optimisation cycles across Opus AI modules.

Required profile

• 3-5 years in ML engineering, ideally within a SaaS or product organisation.
• Experience mentoring engineers and managing cross-functional delivery cycles.
• Proven ability to turn complex AI systems into reliable, scalable products, and experience improving LLM response consistency and user-facing reliability.

Required skills

• Expert Python.
• Strong background in real-time model serving, orchestration (Airflow, Celery, Kubernetes) and observability systems.
• Familiarity with LLM pipelines, workflow modelling and agent-based AI frameworks.
• Experience deploying and optimising inference pipelines (LLMs, CV or similar APIs).
• Bonus: experience building and deploying chatbots or conversational AI systems integrating LLMs, APIs and user flows.
