Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

A leading organization in the UAE is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build scalable backend services and AI agent orchestration systems for an enterprise AI platform. You will work on secure, high‑performance solutions in on‑premise and air‑gapped environments, collaborating closely with AI, Data Science and Frontend teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop AI agent orchestration systems, workflow logic and microservices.
• Build secure API integrations with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba and other enterprise data platforms.
• Develop Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) services using vector databases.
• Implement authentication, role‑based access control, audit logging and data protection mechanisms.
• Optimize backend services for secure on‑premise deployments and monitor performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 + years of backend engineering experience, preferably with distributed systems or production AI platforms.
• Experience in secure, high‑availability environments such as FinTech, healthcare or defense is a plus.

Required skills

• Python (FastAPI/Django), Go or Java.
• Docker, Kubernetes and microservices architecture.
• REST APIs, gRPC, API gateways (Kong, NGINX).
• PostgreSQL and vector databases (Weaviate, Milvus).
• Knowledge of AI agent frameworks, RAG and enterprise integrations, SAP OData/SOAP protocols.
