Senior Cost Controller - Construction Projects

About the role

A construction company is looking for a precise and analytical Senior Cost Controller to manage project budgets, financial tracking and cost risk analysis across its construction project portfolio. The role establishes budget baselines, monitors live project expenses against forecasts, implements cost-control procedures and provides executive management with accurate, data-driven financial reports to protect project profit margins.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain baseline project budgets based on tender calculations, contractual agreements and WBS / CBS structures
• Monitor site commitments, equipment hire, materials usage and labour against baseline budgets to spot cost variances early
• Perform monthly CPI and SPI analyses, and produce EAC and ETC reports
• Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts, reconcile site expenditure with finance teams and review change orders, variations and subcontractor claims with Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers
• Audit subcontractor interim payments, purchase orders and supplier invoices before payment approval
• Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), financial progress reports and risk dashboards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Finance/Accounting
• 7-10+ years of project cost control experience in civil, commercial building or large-scale infrastructure construction
• Deep understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and CBS, and strong knowledge of construction financial processes such as CVR, invoicing, retention and commitments

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, macros)
• SAP, Oracle Primavera Unifier or PRISM ERP systems
• Familiarity with Primavera P6 scheduling software
