Senior Data Analyst - Advanced Analytics

About the role

Emirates NBD, one of the largest banks in the Middle East, has set up an Advanced Analytics Centre of Excellence to deliver advanced analytics use cases across its business units and build data-driven capabilities across the bank. This is an 18-month contract for a Senior Data Analyst who analyses complex operational and business data to find trends, opportunities, performance gaps and actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse complex operational and business data to identify trends, opportunities, performance gaps and actionable insights.
• Work with business stakeholders, product owners, business translators, data engineering and technology teams to define measures and develop reliable, scalable data solutions.
• Support end-to-end delivery of analytical outputs, including data extraction, cleansing, validation, transformation, analysis, dashboard development and performance monitoring.
• Develop and maintain analytical models, reports and dashboards showing operational performance, productivity, capacity and other business outcomes.
• Ensure analysis is based on accurate, complete and consistently defined data, resolving data-quality issues with relevant teams.
• Translate complex findings into clear business insights, recommendations and visualisations for operational teams and senior stakeholders.
• Support testing, implementation and continuous improvement of analytical solutions, and contribute to standardising and automating recurring analysis.
• Depending on seniority, provide analytical guidance, quality assurance and knowledge support to other team members.

Required profile

• University degree; an advanced degree (MS/Ph.D.) in Computer Applications, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics or a related technical discipline is desirable.
• 8-10 years of experience in a data science role is essential.
• Validated experience defining an analytics roadmap and leading analytics engagements.
• Experience in machine learning, statistics, optimization or related fields.
• Experience working in agile environments with multiple business stakeholders.

Required skills

• Programming is a must: R, Python and SQL.
• Large data sets, simulation/optimization and distributed computing tools such as Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive and Spark.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
