Senior Design Manager – Construction Phase

About the role

A leading international architecture and engineering consultancy seeks a Senior Design Manager to protect the original architectural vision during the construction of a major £1 billion HQ development in Dubai. This site‑based position will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design quality and sustainability targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary architectural design representative on‑site, reviewing shop drawings, material submissions, finishes and mock‑ups.
• Resolve design conflicts, assess value‑engineering proposals and recommend design‑sensitive solutions.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor compliance with approved drawings and specifications, and coordinate with client, contractor, PMC and Dubai Municipality.
• Support sustainability objectives, including LEED Platinum and LEED Zero certification, and prepare technical reports for senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture with at least 15 years of experience (20 years preferred).
• Registered Architect status or equivalent accreditation is desirable.
• Extensive construction‑phase experience on major commercial or mixed‑use projects, preferably in the UAE.
• Proven ability to safeguard design intent throughout project delivery.

Required skills
