Senior Draftsman - Power Substations (HV/EHV)

About the role

Antal International is partnering with a leading contracting company in Abu Dhabi, UAE, active in power infrastructure and engineering, including high-voltage substations. It is looking for an experienced Senior Draftsman to prepare detailed civil and electrical drawings for HV/EHV substation projects, working with AutoCAD and Revit and coordinating with design engineers, project teams and site personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Independently prepare civil and electrical drawings for power projects, especially HV/EHV substations.
• Develop substation equipment layouts, cable trench and routing layouts, earthing layouts, equipment foundations and structural drawings.
• Prepare shop drawings, construction drawings, sections, details and as-built documentation from approved designs and IFC documents.
• Maintain 2D drawings in AutoCAD and 3D BIM models in Revit, and coordinate civil, structural, electrical and MEP drawings.
• Perform BIM coordination, model reviews and clash detection with Revit, Navisworks or equivalent.
• Liaise with design engineers, project engineers, consultants and site teams, review drawings for accuracy and constructability, and manage RFIs and design revisions with proper document control.
• Ensure timely delivery of drawings, BIM deliverables and as-built documentation, and comply with health, safety, security and quality requirements.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Architectural Engineering, CAD/Drafting or a related technical discipline.
• 8-10 years of drafting or design experience, preferably in power transmission and distribution projects.
• Proven experience on HV/EHV substation projects and with multidisciplinary civil and electrical drawings.
• Direct exposure to 132kV substations in the UAE or Saudi Arabia is preferred.

Required skills

• AutoCAD and Revit are essential.
• Navisworks or equivalent BIM coordination tools are an advantage.
