Senior Engineer, Automation

About the role

Senior Engineer, Automation will join KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions team in Abu Dhabi, supporting large‑scale MEGA EPC projects. The role focuses on reviewing, analyzing and coordinating process automation system installations, providing technical expertise throughout design, commissioning and operation.

Key responsibilities

• Assess existing automation systems (ICS, DCS, real‑time plant information, laboratory management) for obsolescence, spare‑part availability and integration.
• Audit system performance, identify improvement opportunities and ensure compliance with company and international standards.
• Develop and update technical specifications, functional designs, as‑built documentation and user manuals.
• Coordinate with site maintenance, vendors and contractors for modifications, upgrades and support.
• Provide expertise in real‑time process information, laboratory information management, optimization, alarm management and MES applications.
• Prepare scope of work, tender documents and participate in technical bid evaluation.
• Lead installation, commissioning and future upgrades, ensuring timely and on‑budget delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation or Automation Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of automation systems in large industrial, preferably oil & gas, environments.
• Proven experience on MEGA EPC projects and familiarity with HSE and sustainability guidelines.
