Senior Engineer – IP Planning

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Engineer – IP Planning to join our network engineering team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on IP network capacity planning, architecture, optimisation and long‑term infrastructure development to ensure reliability, scalability and an excellent customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Perform IP network capacity planning and architecture activities to improve KPIs, service performance and customer experience.
• Analyze network utilisation, traffic trends, capacity requirements and potential bottlenecks to proactively mitigate failures.
• Develop and implement short‑term and long‑term network development and expansion plans.
• Coordinate with design, operations, vendors and internal technical teams to ensure optimal network and equipment utilisation.
• Review existing network architecture and recommend enhancements, upgrades and optimisation initiatives.
• Support implementation of network projects in line with engineering standards, objectives and procedures.
• Conduct network audits, capacity assessments and infrastructure performance reviews.
• Prepare annual Capital Work Program (CWP) proposals, capacity forecasts, project requirements and business justifications.
• Support CAPEX planning and maintain financial control of network development projects.
• Prepare technical reports, planning documents, high‑level and low‑level designs, capacity reports and management presentations.
• Evaluate new technologies and solutions to improve network scalability, resiliency, efficiency and service availability.
• Work closely with vendors and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and successful implementation of network initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in IP/MPLS network planning and architecture.
• Excellent knowledge of BGP, OSPF, IS‑IS, MPLS, VPN, QoS, IPv4 and IPv6.
• Experience in network capacity planning, traffic engineering, utilisation analysis and optimisation.
• Solid knowledge of Cisco IP networking platforms; experience with Juniper and Nokia is an advantage.
• Minimum eight years of relevant experience in telecom/service‑provider or large‑scale enterprise environments.
