Senior Engineer, Lunar Lander Test Bench Development

About the role

The Exploration Company is building spacecraft and developing next-generation space transportation systems, including a lunar lander capable of precision landing and reusable operations. It is setting up a dedicated remote test site in the UAE for hot-fire propulsion testing and hopper flight demonstrations. As Senior Engineer, you will lead the design, development and deployment of this test facility from concept to operations, combining propulsion test infrastructure, cryogenic fluid systems, civil infrastructure coordination and end-to-end project execution. Periodic travel to the UAE is required.

Key responsibilities

• Define system-level requirements for a remote lunar lander test site and lead the design of the facility, including ground infrastructure and utilities
• Specify and implement propellant and pressurization systems (Liquid Oxygen, Liquid Methane, Helium, Nitrogen)
• Design power generation, storage, logistics and safety systems enabling autonomous operation of the remote site
• Develop P&IDs for propulsion test facilities and ground support equipment, and design, size and select components for cryogenic and high-pressure fluid systems
• Ensure safe handling, storage and distribution of cryogenic propellants and pressurants
• Coordinate with civil engineering partners on facility layout, foundations, test stands, safety perimeters and support buildings
• Define automation architectures for test operations and facility control, and develop safety-critical systems
• Perform hazard analyses (FMEA, HAZOP, risk assessments) and implement mitigations
• Develop test procedures, operational concepts and commissioning plans
• Lead end-to-end development including design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and operations readiness, manage technical interfaces and perform trade-off analyses
• Support on-site deployment, integration and test campaigns in the UAE

Required profile

• Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, energy systems or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in propulsion test facilities or hot-fire test bench development
• Experience designing or operating ground support equipment for rocket propulsion systems
• Experience coordinating infrastructure or facility development in industrial or remote environments
• Demonstrated project management across multidisciplinary engineering activities
• Willingness to travel to and work periodically in the United Arab Emirates

Required skills

• Fluid systems engineering, including cryogenic propellants
• Knowledge of automation systems and safety-critical control architectures
• Strong problem-solving ability and excellent communication skills across international teams
