Senior Engineer - Storage and Data Protection

About the role

Core42, a provider of AI-powered cloud and digital infrastructure, is hiring a Senior Engineer for Storage and Data Protection. The role contributes to the design, implementation and operation of large-scale storage infrastructure, focusing on hands-on delivery, operation, troubleshooting and optimization of block, file and object storage and backup platforms across cloud and infrastructure environments.

Key responsibilities

• Co-design, implement and operate petabyte-scale block, file and object storage solutions in cloud and HPC environments
• Evaluate, integrate and design storage and backup solutions with architecture and engineering teams
• Perform capacity planning and support forecasting
• Improve storage reliability, high availability and operational resilience, and analyze performance metrics such as throughput, latency and resource utilization
• Support observability, logging and monitoring, and collaborate with security teams on hardening and compliance
• Provide on-call support, root cause analysis, complex troubleshooting and escalation management with vendors
• Create technical documentation and work with process and operations teams to improve workflows

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing and managing large-scale storage and data protection platforms
• Strong hands-on experience with software-defined storage and with vendors such as HPE, Dell, NetApp, Hitachi, IBM, Pure Storage or VAST Data
• Good knowledge of storage protocols such as iSCSI, S3, NFS, Fibre Channel, FCoE and NVMe/TCP
• Linux administration, kernel concepts and storage troubleshooting; container platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker) and backup/DR tools (Trilio, Rubrik, Zerto) are highly desirable

Required skills

• Monitoring and observability tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana and the ELK Stack
• CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and scripting in Python, Go or Bash
• Data center networking, encryption, hardening and security controls
