Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Marine / Coastal)

About the role

Geosyntec is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead large‑scale marine and coastal projects on a client site in Abu Dhabi. The role involves overseeing design, construction and commissioning of ground improvement and waterfront infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage Design & Build geotechnical projects from concept through construction, acting as the technical authority on ground improvement techniques.
• Plan, supervise and review geotechnical investigations, including borehole drilling, CPTs, laboratory testing and geophysical surveys.
• Perform advanced analyses such as settlement, bearing capacity, slope stability, liquefaction, seismic design and finite‑element modelling.
• Review contractor submissions, verify designs, quality‑control procedures and performance testing results.
• Coordinate with marine, structural, infrastructure and construction teams to resolve multidisciplinary challenges.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience (8+ preferred) in geotechnical engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, coastal, structural or geotechnical engineering (advanced degree preferred).
• Professional engineer licensure preferred.
• Strong oral communication and technical writing skills.

Required skills

• Ground improvement methods: vibro compaction, stone columns, dynamic compaction, surcharge, wick drains, deep soil mixing, grouting, rigid inclusions.
• Investigation techniques: borehole drilling, CPT, laboratory testing, geophysical surveys.
• Analysis tools: settlement, bearing capacity, slope stability, liquefaction, seismic design, ground deformation, finite‑element modelling.
• Software: AutoCAD, Slope/W, SAP2000, ALLPILE, STAAD Pro, MATLAB, SWAN, SBEACH, MIKE21, Plaxis.
