Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Sewage Treatment

About the role

Parsons is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Abu Dhabi, UAE, to design and plan sewage treatment plants, sewage pump and lift stations, process design, odour control systems, treatment facilities and their associated piping, process and mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design sewage treatment systems such as activated sludge, membrane bioreactors, moving bed biofilm reactors, containerized units and package STPs, and develop internal designs of components like pump stations, grit chambers, clarifiers, aeration tanks, blowers, diffusers, chlorination systems and dewatering units.
• Design potable water, irrigation, stormwater and wastewater pumping stations with associated piping and mechanical systems.
• Engineer piping systems: prepare piping GA drawings, equipment layouts, isometrics, material take-offs, pump and pipe selection and sizing, tank and wet well sizing, and valve selection.
• Develop system curves, perform pump calculations and select pumps with pump vendors; produce HVAC, ventilation and fire protection designs, and review chilled water systems.
• Prepare specifications, technical data sheets, process diagrams, MTOs, testing and commissioning procedures and O&M manuals.
• Assess tender submissions, prepare technical evaluation reports and cost estimates for mechanical and process equipment, and estimate effort and costs for bid submissions.
• Review mechanical, process and piping drawings, check test and commissioning procedures, read blueprints and schematics, and analyse customer proposals for feasibility and cost.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.
• Minimum 8 years of experience designing sewage pump stations and major utility buildings related to infrastructure works, including 7 years in the UAE.
• Preferred: experience on TAQA-WS/TAQA-D/TAQA-T, Developers or ADM projects, and relevant GCC experience.
