Senior Principal Engineer – Dry Utilities

About the role

WSP is seeking a Senior/Principal Engineer to lead the design and implementation of dry utility electrical infrastructure across Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for delivering engineering solutions, securing authority approvals and managing project execution from concept to final delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall engineering solutions, analysis, specifications and procurement support for infrastructure projects.
• Lead design of high, medium and low voltage networks, street lighting, telecom, grounding and lightning protection systems.
• Conduct load flow, short‑circuit and protection scheme calculations using tools such as ETAP.
• Prepare time schedules, resource plans and assist in budget preparation.
• Manage bids, develop techno‑commercial offers and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee project execution, monitor budgets, invoices and obtain NOCs.
• Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals and ensure compliance with codes and standards.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc (Hon) or equivalent with 10‑12+ years of post‑graduate experience.
• Professional engineering membership (C.Eng, PMP or similar) is an advantage.
• Previous experience in the UAE and familiarity with local authority regulations.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Design of high, medium and low voltage power networks and street lighting.
• Grounding, lightning protection, cable containment and shielding design.
• Load flow, short‑circuit and protection scheme analysis (ETAP).
• Proficiency with Dialux, Amtech, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Navisworks and Microsoft Office.
