Senior Principal Engineer – Platform

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Engineer to lead the design, integration and validation of satellite bus systems for advanced space missions. Reporting to the VP of Engineering and Capability Development, you will work closely with system engineers, payload specialists and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑performance satellite platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end system engineering activities, from requirements definition to architecture design, subsystem integration and performance analysis.
• Coordinate technical efforts across propulsion, power, thermal, avionics and structural subsystems to ensure platform compatibility.
• Manage interface control documents, system budgets (mass, power, data) and verification plans aligned with mission objectives.
• Conduct trade studies, risk assessments and design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) to support decision‑making.
• Collaborate with payload engineers, mission planners and ground‑segment specialists for seamless integration.
• Support launch and early orbit operations, anomaly resolution and post‑launch performance evaluation.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement of engineering processes.
• Provide technical expertise for business development, proposals and R&D activities.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in satellite system engineering, preferably on flight‑proven platforms.
• Proven track record of leading satellite projects from concept to deployment.
• Strong background in systems engineering principles and industry standards.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
