Senior RF Systems Engineer – Sensing and Integration

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior RF/SDR Systems Engineer to develop and improve sensing systems for material classification, object detection, ranging and tracking. The role combines RF engineering, antenna integration, measurement, signal processing and system integration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop sensing systems using SDR platforms, compact VNAs and radar modules, selecting and characterising antennas and RF components.
• Evaluate system architectures, link budgets, receiver sensitivity, dynamic range and implement CW, FMCW and SFCW measurement techniques.
• Create calibration, background subtraction, filtering and feature‑extraction methods for material classification, and support machine‑learning dataset collection.
• Integrate RF hardware with computing platforms, write Python control software, and coordinate power, enclosure, thermal and mechanical integration.
• Conduct laboratory and field tests, assess performance metrics and document results, limitations and development priorities.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on RF engineering experience, including SDR, radar or RF sensing development.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications or related field.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware, analyse measurement data and validate prototypes independently.

Required skills

• RF engineering, antenna design, link‑budget analysis, S‑parameters.
• SDR platforms such as Ettus USRP or LimeSDR; tools like UHD, SoapySDR, GNU Radio.
• RF measurements and calibration using VNAs and spectrum analyzers.
• Python programming and digital signal processing.
• Hardware interfacing via USB, UART, GPIO, I²C; experience with Windows/Linux environments.
• High‑power RF amplifiers, RF leakage cancellation and phase calibration (advantageous).
