Senior Technical Software Engineer - Java Full Stack

About the role

Emirates Group is looking for a Senior Technical Software Engineer / Java Full Stack to join its IT team in Dubai. The role supports the implementation of software engineering strategy, standards and guidelines in an assigned feature team, and covers planning, estimation, development, deployment, release, hyper-care and operation of solutions. It also involves technical leadership of the team across the software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical design, development and deployment of complex solutions, and run technical design reviews to ensure sound architecture patterns.
• Promote engineering practices such as lean software development, test-driven development, agile, and timely root cause analysis and blameless post-mortems.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on solution viability, evaluate problems and requirements, and drive proofs-of-concept and prototypes.
• Debug and fix complex issues, investigate alternatives and new technologies, and present them for architectural review.
• Contribute to sprint planning and technology communities, and mentor software engineers on design, coding standards and delivery.
• Maintain products through corrective, adaptive, preventative and perfective maintenance, and use enterprise platforms in line with the approved technology architecture.

Required profile

• Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, with 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience building advanced software solutions for large, complex organisations in a multi-functional environment.
• Production support experience using the ITIL framework.
• Full-stack development across UI, middleware and databases.
• Expertise in technology evaluation, vendor selection and vendor management.
• Leadership role.

Required skills

• Java (versions 11-17), Spring Boot, Spring Framework, JPA/Hibernate, REST and SOAP web services and APIs.
• Front-end: ReactJS, Redux, Node.js, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript.
• Database development: MS SQL, Oracle, PL/SQL.
• DevOps: CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, GitLab, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, GitHub.
• Agile (SAFe), Confluence, JIRA, observability (metrics, logs, traces).
• Single Sign-On, OAuth 2.0, API integration, CMS and identification and access management platforms.
