Senior VT Engineer - Site

About the role

A Senior Engineer – Vertical Transportation (VT) is sought in Dubai to oversee the installation, commissioning and maintenance of elevators, escalators and moving walkways on construction and renovation projects. The role provides technical leadership, coordinates with vendors, contractors and project teams, and ensures safety, quality and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the installation, testing and commissioning of elevators, escalators and moving walkways
• Inspect and troubleshoot vertical transportation equipment and resolve issues
• Analyse technical drawings, specifications and building codes to ensure compliance with UAE regulations and international standards
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors to integrate VT systems within project timelines and budgets
• Develop site safety protocols and quality assurance procedures
• Prepare technical reports, documentation and performance analyses
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians
• Manage preventive maintenance schedules and corrective actions
• Report technical findings to project managers, clients and stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• At least 8 years of experience in vertical transportation systems, including installation, maintenance and commissioning
• Expertise with major VT manufacturers such as OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp or equivalents
• Experience in site supervision and project coordination
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational and time-management skills

Required skills

• Elevator and escalator mechanics, hydraulic and traction systems, and control technologies
• Reading technical drawings, schematics and specifications
• Knowledge of UAE building codes and safety standards
• Microsoft Office Suite; preferred: CAD, BIM, QA/QC, vendor management, budget management
