Settlement Specialist

About the role

First Abu Dhabi Bank is hiring a Specialist in Settlement Services in Abu Dhabi. The role covers daily monitoring and processing of settlement processes across domestic, regional and international markets for equities, mutual funds, fixed income, hedge funds, structured funds, ETFs, securities lending and borrowing, and local market short selling. It sits within the Position Management, Security/Cash Settlement and Cash Management area of the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and validate client, market and sub-custodian instructions, and ensure timely matching and settlement across all markets
• Handle complex settlement transactions and support due diligence visits linked to settlement
• Communicate with clients, counterparties, brokers, depositories, issuers and regulators, and track and answer client queries
• Manage cash and FX settlements: validate and sign vouchers, escalate mismatches and settlement issues to the VP, and ensure accounting entries are executed on settlement date
• Review client positions and cash holdings daily, reconcile them with sub-custodians and markets, and escalate discrepancies or funding risks
• Validate SWIFT instructions and act as second level of SWIFT generation
• Perform second-level reconciliation and support ad hoc requests, projects, system upgrades and new client requirements
• Monitor KPIs, KRI and capacity planning, report incidents and ensure compliance with audit and regulatory standards
• Train new specialists, help them handle inquiries and contribute to process re-engineering and risk controls
