Shift Electrical Technician – Steel Industry (SMP1)

About the role

The Shift Electrical Technician (SMP1) will join a highly automated steel melting and billet casting plant in Abu Dhabi. Working on a rotating shift, you will ensure reliable electrical operation, support production schedules, and contribute to continuous improvement of plant uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute electrical maintenance tasks in accordance with safety rules, risk assessments, and work orders.
• Apply condition‑monitoring techniques to prevent failures and diagnose complex equipment issues.
• Analyse daily and shift activities with the supervisor to develop action plans that reduce line stoppages.
• Guide, monitor and train new team members, ensuring they acquire the required technical skills.
• Provide technical input for major maintenance problems to minimise downtime.
• Assist in spare‑parts management and ensure proper inventory levels.
• Coordinate daily with production personnel to schedule machine shutdowns and gather feedback on service performance.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent trade certificate) with at least 5 years (diploma) or 8 years (trade) of electrical maintenance experience in a steel plant.
• Previous work experience in the Middle East, familiar with local regulations and climate conditions.
• Proven knowledge of health and safety compliance systems.
