Shoring Designer (Geotechnical Design Engineer)

About the role

The Engineering Department of China State Construction Middle East is seeking a Shoring Designer to lead the design of deep‑excavation support systems. The role involves developing detailed calculations and ensuring compliance with UAE and international standards for a variety of earth‑retention solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs and calculations for shoring systems such as sheet piles, soldier piles, secant piles, diaphragm walls and braced excavations.
• Design retaining walls, perform soil‑structure interaction analyses, stability assessments and settlement predictions.
• Prepare comprehensive design documentation, method statements, risk assessments and obtain client or authority approvals.
• Provide geotechnical input for technical proposals, tender submissions and advise on excavation methods and temporary works.
• Collaborate with tender teams, review specifications and propose safe, cost‑effective solutions.
• Support site teams during implementation and offer technical advice on construction challenges and unforeseen soil conditions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical design, shoring or temporary works for deep excavations.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• Familiarity with UAE construction safety standards, authority approval processes and Dubai Municipality Engineer registration.

Required skills
