Siemens Relay Testing Engineer (SIPROTEC / DIGSI5)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Relay Testing Engineer to configure, test and commission Siemens SIPROTEC protection relays. The role focuses on ensuring reliable protection schemes for power systems and substations.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and parameterize SIPROTEC 5 relays using DIGSI5, including hardware setup, protection function settings and IEC 61850 communication.
• Conduct functional testing of protection schemes (over‑current, earth‑fault, distance, differential, power‑swing, blocking, SOTF) with DIGSI5 test tools and integrated sequencer.
• Manage IEC 61850 GOOSE and MMS settings, prepare SCL files and coordinate with SCADA teams.
• Extract and analyse fault records, trip logs and disturbance waveforms using SIGRA.
• Prepare configuration files, setting sheets, test reports and commissioning documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
• 10‑12 years of experience in protection relay testing, configuration and commissioning.

Required skills

• DIGSI5 engineering software.
• SIPROTEC 4 and SIPROTEC 5 relay families.
• IEC 61850 communication (GOOSE, MMS, SCL).
• Relay testing equipment such as OMICRON or Megger.
• Power system protection principles (over‑current, earth‑fault, distance, differential, power‑swing, blocking, SOTF).
• SIGRA disturbance analysis software.
