Specialist HSE (Projects) Engineer – Offshore Water Injection

About the role

The Specialist HSE (Projects) Engineer will lead health, safety and environmental management for KBR's offshore water injection project in Abu Dhabi. The role starts in an office setting and later moves to a 6‑week on/3‑week off offshore rotation, ensuring compliance throughout engineering, construction, installation and start‑up phases.

Key responsibilities

• Provide HSE leadership and guidance to project, engineering, construction and contractor teams.
• Implement and maintain the Project HSE Management Plan and ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations and international standards.
• Facilitate HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS reviews, risk assessments, JHA/JSA and environmental impact assessments.
• Monitor construction, offshore installation and marine operations for safe execution of lifting, rigging, confined space entry, hot work and diving activities.
• Evaluate contractor HSE plans, conduct audits, and ensure corrective actions are closed.
• Support incident investigation, emergency response planning and crisis management.
• Track and report HSE performance metrics such as TRIR, LTIF and near‑miss reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
• 10‑15 years HSE experience in oil & gas, with 5‑7 years on major offshore EPC projects.
• Proven experience on offshore water injection, brownfield/greenfield developments and commissioning.
• Previous Middle East offshore project experience is highly preferred.

Required skills

• NEBOSH International Diploma or equivalent.
• CSP, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certifications.
• Offshore survival & safety certifications (BOSIET / FOET).
• Hands‑on experience with HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS, risk assessments, JHA/JSA and EIA processes.
