Specialist Physician – Obstetrics & Gynecology Ward

About the role

The Specialist Physician in the OBGyn Ward delivers high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centered care while supporting the Consultant Physician. The role involves direct patient management, supervision of junior staff, and participation in departmental initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients according to best‑practice standards under Consultant supervision.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Supervise junior medical staff and share responsibility for their patient care.
• Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings, liaise with other specialties, and ensure appropriate referrals and investigations.
• Support out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Adhere to hospital policies on admissions, consultations, surgical procedures, discharge, and follow‑up.
• Contribute to quality improvement, audit activities, and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Medical practitioner working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician.
• Experience supervising junior medical staff and participating in ward activities.
