Specialist Physician – Pathology & Transfusion Medicine

About the role

The Specialist Physician in Pathology and Transfusion Medicine provides high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care within Al Rahba Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Consultant Physician, the role also involves mentoring junior medical staff and contributing to departmental initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients according to best‑practice standards, leading ward rounds and reassessing in‑patients and out‑patients regularly.
• Supervise junior medical staff, ensuring appropriate clinical coverage and participation in on‑call rotations.
• Document clinical information accurately and timely, review investigation results, and modify treatment plans as needed.
• Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings, liaise with other specialties, and ensure patients are prepared for procedures with informed consent.
• Support quality improvement, audit activities, and incident reporting within the division.

Required profile

• Board‑certified specialist in Pathology or Transfusion Medicine.
• Tier 1: No additional experience required post‑board certification; Tier 2: Minimum 2 years clinical experience; Tier 3: Minimum 3 years clinical experience as a specialist.
• UAE nationals may apply without additional experience.

Required skills

• Clinical diagnosis and treatment in pathology and transfusion medicine.
• Supervision and training of junior medical staff.
• Effective documentation and communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
