Structural Inspector - Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Zutari, a buildings, infrastructure engineering and advisory practice with over 90 years of heritage across Africa and the Middle East, is looking for a Structural Inspector in Dubai. The inspector monitors, supervises and inspects structural works on infrastructure and building projects, with a strong focus on RTA and Dubai Municipality standards, approved drawings and local and international codes. The role gives on-site technical oversight so that foundations, substructures, superstructures, reinforced concrete and structural steel works are built in full compliance with quality, safety and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and supervise structural construction, including excavation readiness, blinding concrete, foundations, columns, slabs, beams, formwork, reinforcement, embedded items, concrete placement, precast elements and structural steel erection
• Check that works follow approved method statements, ITPs and risk assessments, and review material submittals and shop drawings
• Witness and verify tests such as concrete sampling, slump tests, cube/crushing tests, reinforcement certificates, welding inspections and NDT reports, and survey checks
• Maintain daily inspection reports, progress logs, checklists and photo records, and issue and track non-conformances (NCRs)
• Support rectification, snagging, as-built verification and handover documentation
• Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, subcontractors and authorities (RTA/DM) and escalate risks early
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE requirements and stop unsafe work

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in structural inspection on infrastructure and/or building projects in the UAE
• Knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations and formwork, and familiarity with standards such as ACI, BS, ASTM, AISC or Eurocodes
• Experience with international consulting/engineering firms preferred
• English communication and reporting skills; Arabic is an advantage
