Tailor – Garment Alterations & Bespoke Service

About the role

The Tailor is responsible for delivering high‑quality garment alterations, repairs and bespoke tailoring to meet the hotel’s standards of presentation and service. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure garments are completed accurately and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Alter, repair and finish garments according to detailed instructions, measurements and specifications.
• Take precise body and garment measurements and confirm alteration requirements before starting work.
• Fit garments, make adjustments for comfort and professional finish, and check completed items for fit, cleanliness and quality.
• Perform hand and machine sewing tasks such as hemming, stitching, seam repair, button replacement and fastening adjustments.
• Assess fabrics, select appropriate alteration methods, and handle delicate materials with care.
• Maintain a clean, organised work area and ensure sewing equipment is safe and functional.
• Monitor supplies of fabric, thread and notions, reporting replenishment needs.
• Follow health, safety, fire, security and manual‑handling procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a tailor, seamstress or garment‑alteration specialist is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques and finishing methods.
• Ability to take accurate measurements and interpret alteration instructions.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently while contributing to a team.
• Physically able to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive sewing tasks.

Required skills

• Proficient use of sewing machines.
• Competent with hand‑sewing tools.
• Skilled in operating irons and related equipment safely.
