Teaching Assistant - Early Childhood Nursery

About the role

A Reggio Emilia-inspired nursery acquired by HEI UAE in August 2024 is looking for a Teaching Assistant in Dubai. The assistant supports the classroom teacher in daily activities and helps children develop intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically in a safe and healthy environment, including assisting with feeding and toileting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high standards of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care and support children's development through supervised activities
• Keep children safe at all times and follow safeguarding and positive behaviour management policies
• Encourage exploration with materials and resources, teach basic hygiene, eating habits and social skills, and adapt teaching to each child's needs
• Prepare materials and the classroom, follow the class timetable and agreed cleaning rota
• Identify children with possible emotional, developmental or health concerns and discuss them with the teacher, nurse and principal
• Organise and label displays, carry out daily risk assessments and supervise indoor and outdoor play
• Take part in planning weekly activities, staff meetings and training, and attend special events outside normal hours
• Use classroom supplies cost-effectively and report any loss or damage

Required profile

• Minimum high school diploma; a Bachelor's in Education or English/Arabic is desired
• Minimum 1 year of experience; 2-3 years desired
• Full proficiency in English is desired

• Knowledge of early childhood education and care and child safety protocols
• Classroom management, problem solving and confidentiality regarding child information
• Collaborative team player, flexible and resilient under pressure
